🎵 Dr. Julian Owens [Dr. Juju]
Teaching Artist | Creative Strategist | Educator
Dr. Julian Owens — known to many as Dr. Juju — combines his work as a musician with his experience in leadership, management, and education to help individuals and organizations make intentional choices about growth, purpose, and direction. He empowers audiences — students, educators, and community members — to critically engage with music and media, reflecting on the messages that shape identity, values, coping strategies, communication norms, and topics of conversation.
Teaching Artist
As a musician, educator, and strategist, Dr. Juju bridges the creative and academic worlds to inspire purposeful learning and transformation. Through his Music’sEnergy framework, he invites audiences to engage with popular music and media as both content and context — a mirror for exploring how social messages and stereotypes influence values, identity, and connection.
Drawing on his leadership and faculty experience at the Darla Moore School of Business, Dr. Juju helps learners apply his 4D Framework — Dialogue, Discover, Discern, Decide — to strengthen strategic decision-making at both individual and organizational levels.
“When the work we do reflects our values, we grow more confident in using those values to inform our decisions and illuminate our path forward.” — Dr. Julian D. Owens (Dr. Juju)
His approach centers on reflection through dialogue, discovery, and discernment to make informed decisions grounded in shared values and respect for differing perspectives. Dr. Juju teaches that values-driven intention — followed by action and consistency — is the surest way to find and collaborate with like-minded people who care about what we care about.
As a teaching artist, Dr. Juju believes that art is more than expression — it’s a tool for awareness, growth, and transformation. Whether performing, facilitating, or teaching, he integrates strategy, storytelling, and human development to help learners listen more deeply: to the music, to each other, and to themselves.
